Notice of Zoning Public Hearing

The Lawrence Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a Public Hearings on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at the Lawrence Township Administration Building, 5828 Manchester Ave., N. Lawrence, Ohio. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Property owner at 12640 Patterson Ave NW is requesting a Variance to build a 40’ x 60’ accessory building. According to Article III(D)(4) of the Lawrence Township Zoning Resolution, all unattached accessory buildings shall not exceed the square foot area of the primary use structure of the residence. The proposed accessory building is 2400sq ft the home is 1288sq ft requiring a 1112sq ft variance. The property is located within southeast corner of section 22, Lawrence Twp and is zoned R-1. About Lawrence Township

Located in the northwestern corner of the county, Lawrence Township is one of the seventeen townships of Stark County, Ohio, United States.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.

Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

Lawrence Township is divided between three school districts. The northern half of the township is served by the Northwest Local School District, while the southern half is part of Tuslaw Local School District. A small area along Erie Avenue in the eastern part of the township is zoned to the Jackson Local School District.
